Layout and templates

I chose this layout because I liked the way it looked and because I was able to edit it and add images. I actually opened my account with Blogger several years ago for another class, so I am familiar with how it functions. I originally spent a lot of time exploring other options and, at the time, this site had the simplest interface. I think that may have changed in recent years, but because I am comfortable using this site, I chose to stay here for this blog. Additionally, I get most of the functionality I want without having to pay, which I appreciate. I also like that I change choose to add my own images and color palette, or I can use Blogger's templates. I chose the template "Simple: Literate" and added my own image. I chose an image of a bookshelf because it fits with the theme of my news feature article.

I played around with a few other templates, but I didn't like how the background image worked with the blog post. I spent time adding images and changing fonts to see how they looked with my template, and I am mostly pleased with the result. I may change my mind after looking at other examples of blogs though, because I don’t see examples that use a similar format. Most of the ones I found have white or light backgrounds and lots of white space. The first link is to a blog that uses a similar template. The second link is to a site that has examples of the “Best Blogs of 2024”. It was helpful to be able to click on several examples and review them in terms of what was appealing visually.
